On Friday, September 18, we hosted the 9th edition of the MusicTech Poland Meetup at the City Culture Institute (IKM) in Gdańsk, as part of MusicJam 2026.
MusicTech Lab was a partner of this year's MusicJam, together with MusicTech Poland. The meetup was organized and hosted by Maciej Dulski, who connects both initiatives.
It was a good opportunity to bring together people working across music, technology, audio, and the business side of the industry.
We had three presentations covering very different parts of the music and technology landscape:
🎤 Evelin Hetsko, Studio FontanaTopic: "Music on TV Is Not an Accident: The Business, Technology and Relationships Behind It"
Evelin talked about what happens behind the scenes when music makes its way into TV productions, and how technology, business processes, licensing, and industry relationships all come together.

🎤 Tomasz Żernicki, My3Daudio VenturesTopic: "Not just technology: How to scale an audio and deeptech startup"
Tomek shared his experience of building and scaling companies at the intersection of audio and deeptech, with a focus on what changes when a product moves beyond the technology itself and into the business and growth stage.

🎤 David Iroko and Aleksander Tym, Closer MusicTopic: "From catalog to business. How to commercialize music in multiple ways. The Closer Music Story"
David and Aleksander shared the Closer Music story and talked about building a business around a music catalog, combining music, technology, licensing, and different commercialization models.

Each presentation was followed by a Q&A, with plenty of time for conversations and networking between the sessions.
The meetup was part of the wider MusicJam 2026 programme, which brought together music, technology, coding, and creative experimentation across several days.
The event started on Thursday with DJ workshops and synth building sessions with Mitch Altman.
The main hackathon then brought 11 teams together for 24 hours of experimentation at IKM. This year's theme was "Music from the DNA of the sea", with projects exploring different ways of connecting music, science, data, and technology.
In the tech project category, the "Muszelki" team won with "DNO", an installation that used EMODnet sonar data and interactive elements to let the audience explore and play with representations of the Baltic Sea.
In the music track category, "Vampyrotheutis Infernalis" won with "Hippocampus.fasta", translating DNA sequences of sea creatures into musical parameters.
The audience award was shared by "Vampyrotheutis Infernalis" and "GODZIRA" by Def.
The programme ended on Sunday with a live performance by Mitch Altman and the awards ceremony.
Congratulations to all the participants and winners, and thanks to everyone who contributed to making MusicJam happen.
We were happy to be part of the event. See you next year!
